This tutor-led, cohort-based online course is 7-weeks in duration and is made up of 5 teaching units.
Unit 1 - The role of coaching
Learning objectives:
- To explore the organisational context for executive coaching - understanding the organisation.
- To discuss what is executive coaching? Its purpose and role.
- To look at when and how might executive coaching be used.
- To provide an understanding of coaching and other interventions, such as mentoring, training and leadership development programmes.
Unit 2 - Personal readiness: the role and responsibilities of the coach
Learning objectives:
- To understand the skills and behaviours required for effective executive coaching.
- To explore individual roles and responsibilities.
- To provide an opportunity to engage in a coaching session (1).
Unit 3 - Working with the individual executive
Learning objectives:
- To understand working with difference.
- To explore contracting and relationship management.
- To understand working with 'stuckness'
- To receive feedback from coaching session (1).
Unit 4 - Ethics, codes of conduct and supervision
Learning objectives:
- To explore ethical responsibilities.
- To examine codes of conduct.
- To understand supervision.
- To provide an opportunity to engage in a coaching session (2).
Unit 5 - Working with stakeholders
Learning objectives:
- To receive feedback from coaching session (2).
- To learn how to work with multiple stakeholders.
- To understand how to maintain distance, being involved.
- To understand the concepts of supporting and restraining forces.
- To provide an opportunity to understand leadership within the organisation.
